The Python support (temporarily disabled in 1.0pre1) is functional again.
We have been working hard to get there and Andreas Hildebrandt has adapted the initial patches against SIP 2.x to the current (3.5) version. These patches provide exception support and automatic wrapping of C++ operators. We have re-enabled Python support in the latest snapshots. The patch against SIP 3.5 is available in the Downloads section as well. However, Phil Thompson, the author of SIP, intends to include these patches in an upcoming new release of SIP which would then avoid the tedious patching.
